3-D Secure eCommerce is a new service you can attach to your card that provides you with worry free online shopping. 3-D Secure appeared as a response to the need for developing a means to verify whether a person making an Internet payment is the real cardholder.

This standard is also adopted by stores that sell merchandise over the Internet, and the logo by which these can be recognized is .

The 3-D Secure eCommerce service is based on a system of a user/password combination known only to you and that will protect you against unauthorized usage of your credit card at participating merchants.

In order to make sure that the transaction you are making is absolutely secure you must:

1. Activate the 3-D Secure eCommerce service. After activation you will receive a username and password, which you will use to authenticate yourself every time you make an online Internet purchase.
   
   Activating 3-D Secure eCommerce service gives you complete confidence in this method of purchasing goods and services, eliminating the risk of fraud resulting from the copying of payment information or by random card number generation and later use online. Activation is simple and does not require installing special software.
2. Make sure that the site you are purchasing from has implemented the 3-D Secure technology, namely that it is displaying the  logo, thus guaranteeing security of payment information. When purchasing from these sites you will be requested to authenticate yourself for every transaction, thus remaining in control over your online shopping.
   
   For online stores the implementation of this technology ensures the elimination of fraud risks and, implicitly, of charge backs, with all associated costs, thus widening the base for business development.

In order to activate the 3-D Secure eCommerce service please follow the instructions below:

Step 1

First you have to fill-in a 3-D Secure eCommerce sign-up form at your closest Raiffeisen Bank unit, preferably the one that issued your card. Approximately one week after submitting the form come back to this page to continue the activation process with Step 2. You can't finalize the 3-D Secure service activation process without having gone through Step 1;

After clicking on the desired link you will be directed to a page where you will finish the 3-D Secure service enrollment procedure for your card:

• The first screen will present you with the "Terms and Conditions" of the 3-D Secure eCommerce service. This details the responsibilities of the parties involved, including your own.
• Preliminary authentication is required and this will be done by entering information known only by you and the bank. Among these is the "Initial Password", which is your mother's maiden name. If you have any problems remembering this initial password (which has to be entered exactly as it was written on your request, in CAPS), you may contact Raiffeisen Bank at 0800 8020202 or (021) 3239542;
• After preliminary authentication is complete you will be invited to create your personal parameters, depending on the type of card you have, such as: username, password for online Internet transactions, welcome message;
• After entering all the data your 3-D Secure eCommerce service enrollment will be completed.

Recommendations we make in order to permanently benefit from the security provided by the 3-D Secure eCommerce service:

• Keep the password you chose a carefully guarded secret. It is similar to the PIN code used for ATM transactions. This password will be requested every time you want to purchase goods or services from sites that display the  logo;
• Create the password respecting the suggestions that will be given to you. Do not use your card's PIN code to create the password;
• When you shop on such Internet sites you must make sure that the transaction authentication page contains: the logo, as well as the Raiffeisen Bank logo and the welcome message you selected during activation. These elements are proof that the bank authenticates the payment and that information is not being revealed to any other party. You mustn't enter your password or your card number if one of these elements is missing;
• Check the payment amount, including the decimal point;
• Save the merchant's information; both its business name, as well as the Internet address, phone numbers, contact persons;
• Print a copy of the purchase confirmation;
• It is recommended to buy only from known merchants, that have a solid reputation, and to avoid shopping on Internet sites that don't display the logo. I.e. If you use a MasterCard or Maestro card and the online store you want to buy from doesn't display the , logo, that means that that store doesn't provide secure Internet transactions (even if it displays the  logo);
• Don't reply to emails directing you to websites (which may even have the bank's name in them) and in which they ask you to enter your card number, expiration date, username or password, under various pretenses (obtaining updated information, providing services, reactivating username and password, etc.);
• If you use this service in public areas make sure that others around you don't see your password; when you leave please remember to close the site you used;
• If you suspect that somebody had access to your password, notify the bank immediately;
• Preferably use PCs that have antivirus software installed.
